As of this year, the DeLand Quarterback Club is honoring football players from all the area high schools and also the football players of Stetson University. The club is presenting players will the West Volusia Family and Sports Medicine Player of the Week Award, made possible by Dr. John Hill.

Those honored to date include: Demaurez Bellamy and Leon Rolle - DeLand High; Dillon Torres and Isaiah Gordon - Deltona High; Eric Rios and Cole Leasure - University High in Orange City; Ricky Varga and Derius May - Pine Ridge High in Deltona; Jaden Reeves - Taylor Middle-High in Pierson; Caleb Neher and Caleb Bulleman - Trinity Christian Academy in Deltona; and Colin McGovern and Donald Parham - Stetson University.

The QB Club has heard two speakers to date — Wayne Wheeler and Brian Young. Wheeler was an All-American at Alabama and has coached at Spruce Creek High School over the years, while Young played his football at Georgia Southern and played Arena League Football before becoming a coach and coming to Stetson University as the defensive coordinator.

The DeLand Quarterback Club is led by Capt. Erik Eagan. It meets Monday nights during football season at The Venue in Downtown DeLand. A social hour is at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and a presentation by the guest speaker at 7 p.m.
