This year's Volusia County Fair runs from November 7 to the 17. That gives West Volusians 10 whole days to take in the sights, tastes and fun that only the Fair can offer!

From FacebookThe Volusia County Fair & Youth Show, founded in 1923, provides a place for youth to learn and show their livestock products; residents of Volusia County are encouraged to participate in art, photography, music, agriculture, horticulture, home and craft projects. The fair gives students an opportunity to showcase their talents while competing for awards.

The fair features hundreds of young people showing off their hard work and agricultural skills, and a fun midway that offers not only a variety of rides, but a number of pop-up restaurants, as well.

Kicking off the event was the annual Miss Volusia County Fair contest. Winners were MacKenzie Cunningham, second runner-up; Miss Volusia County Fair Sage Dawson; and first runner-up Alex Sandoval. Others taking part in the pageant were Caitlin Wise, Samantha Hoover, Hannah Meeks, Cheyann Wilkins, Juliet Henning, Taylor Kelly, Allison Castle, Megan Kendall, Taylor Palmer, Kyrestin Bunner, Hailey Hosack, Rachel Morris, Juanita Jurado and Jo’Aisha Drayton.

Officials of the Volusia County Fair & Youth Show also congratulated this year’s scholarship winners — Samantha Hoover, Katelyn Polcyn and Juliet Henning. Each received $1,000 to use toward her educational goals.
