At 8:25 a.m. officials from the City of DeLand & DeLand Fire and Police Departments kicked off their 9/11 remembrance ceremony in the Willie Bright Civic Plaza outside DeLand City Hall.

The ceremony included a bell toll for each of the events that took place during the morning of September 11, 2001, and ended with a warbird flyover.

The Ceremony included speeches from Mayor Robert Apgar, DeLand Fire Chief Todd Allen, DeLand Police Chief Jason Umberger and Retired NYPD Major Ron Young.

Special thanks to the DeLand Fire Department, DeLand Fire Pipe and Drum Corps., DeLand Police Department, Volusia County Sheriff's Office, DeLand Police Explorers and VFW, who all contributed and participated in the ceremony.

Performances of "Scotland the Brave" and "Amazing Grace" were performed by the DeLand Fire Pipe and Drum Corps.
