After almost 40 years, longtime owner Bob Allinson has retired from Quality Quickprint. Starting in 1980, Bob began working at Quality Quickprint under the direction and expertise of his father-in-law and then-owner Paul Hawkins.
Ten years later, Bob’s father-in-law sold the business to him, and now Bob is handing over the reins to his son-in-law and current co-owner Steve White.
“It’s like a passing of the torch,” said now-owner Steve White. “Bob was a mentor to me. I learned a lot from him, not only businesswise but about how to conduct business, to be fair and to give back.”
Bob is looking forward to more hunting and fishing in his future now that he is retired, but he will continue to help out at Quality Quickprint part time during this transitional phase.
Bob will also continue to be involved with the many community organizations that he is a member of.
“Bob was the past president of the DeLand Breakfast Rotary Club, a founding board member of MainStreet DeLand Association, and is a member of many other groups,” said Steve. “If anyone in this town has given their time, it’s Bob, for sure.”
With Bob gone, the company is planning to continue in his footsteps of giving back to the community. “Just because he’s gone doesn’t mean we won’t still be doing our outreach into the community,” said Steve.
In fact, they are hoping to reach out even more. “We’re currently involved with the Good Samaritan Foundation, Me Strong, various church groups, and we’re currently in the process of printing the Childhood Cancer Foundation book,” said Steve. “But we’re now looking for even more opportunities to be involved.”
Quality Quickprint has been a staple in DeLand since 1975 and is one of West Volusia’s most enduring printing and sign businesses. They’ve won the Best of the West 16 times, have grown from a small, 600-square-foot printing company to a now 2,800-square-foot production facility, and have a full staff of helpful employees, including Steve’s own wife, Donna, who recently joined the team.
One of the reasons why they’ve done so well over the years is their ability to adapt. “Print obviously continues to evolve,” said Steve. “Now a lot of things are digital, so we’ve added additional services over the years. Most people know us as a printing company, but we do more than just printing. We also do signs, banners, and a lot of specialty items.”
Some of Quality Quickprint’s other services include copying, bindery services, professional design, and mailing support.
Quality Quickprint is located in DeLand at 1441 N. Amelia Ave., and they are open 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday–Friday. For more information about Quality Quickprint or to place an order, visit qualityquickprint.com or call 386-736-1353.
