The three-day extravaganza kicks off Thursday, Oct. 10 with Daytona State College’s School of Photography Alumni Reunion in Photography Hall from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Mr. & Ms. DSC Pageant at 6 p.m. in the L. Gale Lemerand Center (auditions Sept. 11, 1-4 p.m.).
Friday’s activities begin with the Alumni Awards at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Center (by invitation only) – awards are presented in four categories – Alumni of the Year, Distinguished Faculty/Staff Alumni, Young Alumni Excellence Award, and the Margaret Crumley Award for Distinguished Achievement in Science. At 10 a.m. in the Hosseini Center’s Madorsky Theater, be prepared to go from beginner to all-star with a one-hour LinkedIn 101 workshop presented by LaTonya Polk who serves as manager for DSC Career Services. Friday also features the Falcon Challenge Ping-Pong Tournament from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Gaming Lounge located in the L. Gale Lemerand Student Center, and concludes with Movie & S’mores at 7 p.m. with an outdoor movie presentation, free pizza and adult-supervised fire pits.
Featuring something for everyone, Homecoming 2019 culminates with a full-day of activities on Saturday, Oct. 12 beginning at 8 a.m. with the 4th Annual 5K Family Fun Walk/Run sponsored by Dunkin’ Donuts, Follett and Hawkeye Brothers – start/finish at the DSC Soccer Stadium – $30 entry donation benefiting student scholarships; from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Car & Truck Show sponsored by Daytona’s Garage - $10 vehicle registration fee, trophies awarded to stock and modified vehicles plus President’s Choice; also from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. the Arts & Craft Fair showcases talented DSC faculty, staff and alumni - $10 vendor registration; for bon vivants the popular Culinary Boot Camp with Chef Costa takes place in the kitchen labs of the Hosseini Center at 9 a.m. – participation is limited to 20, $75 donation fee; alumni softball and baseball games are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. respectively; from noon to 3 p.m. the Tailgate Party & Cookout by the DSC Soccer Stadium features free barbeque, plus bounce house, rock wall, corn hole tournament and other family-fun activities; graduates from the Paralegal Studies program are invited to participate in a reunion sponsored by Doran Sims Wolfe Ciocchetti & Yoon; from noon to 1:30 p.m. the DSC School of Emergency Services hosts a Pumper Pull where teams of six vie for the quickest time in pulling a firetruck over a given distance; the Freddie T. Falcon Invitational Mascot Match-Up at 1 p.m. pits costumed mascots to a corn hole tournament followed by introductions ahead of the men’s and women’s soccer conference games at 2 and 4 p.m.
