Florida Hospital has made several personnel appointments to its employee ranks in recent months, starting with two new leaders at Florida Hospital DeLand: Kyle Glass began serving as chief financial officer on May 28, and Samuel Aguero began serving as chief operating officer on June 25.

A longtime member of the Florida Hospital family, Glass began his career as an accounting intern/staff accountant with Florida Hospital Zephyrhills. Most recently, Glass has served as controller for Florida Hospital DeLand, where he assisted in completing month-end financials, annual budgets and capital planning.

Aguero began his career as an analyst with Sony BMG in Lynd-hurst, New Jersey, and as a financial adviser with AXA Advisors in New York City before joining the Adventist Health System team in 2008. Most recently, Aguero served as controller for Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City.

Florida Hospital DeLand also selected Janet Kent to serve as director of rehabilitation, wellness and diabetes services.

Kent has nearly 50 years of professional experience as a speech-language pathologist and 40 years of experience as a director of rehabilitation programs in hospitals and nursing homes.

Most recently, Kent served as a speech-language pathologist at Florida Hospital DeLand, specializing in treating swallowing disorders, traumatic brain injuries, neurological disorders, and patients with tracheostomies or on respirators.

Another recent appointment is Kelly Ferguson, who was named director of public and government affairs for the six Florida Hospitals in Flagler, Lake and Volusia counties.

Ferguson will represent Florida Hospital at various government, business and community events and is responsible for planning, supporting and implementing government and public-affairs efforts for the hospitals in DeLand, Orange City, Palm Coast, Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach and Tavares.

Ferguson has 25 years of experience in government and nonprofit development and management. A Volusia County resident since 1993, Ferguson also has served as a community volunteer on several boards and for many civic and service organizations.

In a related appointment, Rick Cazares was named as director of employed physician marketing for Florida Hospital HealthCare Partners, a group of more than 160 primary-care physicians and specialists for the Florida Hospitals in Volusia and Flagler counties.

Cazares now is responsible for creating and executing strategic marketing plans to increase patient volumes for the employed physicians at the Florida Hospitals.
