Jacqueline A. ‘Jackie’ Atkinson

KERRVILLE, Texas — Jacqueline A. “Jackie” Atkinson, 71, died Feb. 27, 2018, in San Antonio. A celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at Hopkins Hall in Lake Helen.
Ms. Atkinson was born in Norwood, Massachusetts, to H. Warren True and Doris M. True, the oldest of seven siblings.
Jackie spent her early years in East Providence, Rhode Island, and her summers exploring Hog Island with her siblings and cousins.
She moved to Florida with the family in 1958.
Jackie attended MacArthur High School, and was an avid swim-team member. She completed her high-school education at Madonna Catholic Academy, during which time she was working for Southern Bell as a telephone operator.
Her love of travel began soon after, when she took a trip to Europe.
Upon return, Jackie met and married Al Zangenberg, and from that union her three cherished children were born.
Her love of travel continued with several trips to the Olympics in Atlanta and Sydney, Australia.
Jackie fulfilled her dream job as a travel/cruise agent and, through that, she received great joy in helping others travel.
Her amazing smile, contagious laughter, and her devoted, loving spirit will be forever missed.
Jackie is survived by her children, David (Michelle) Zangenberg, Michelle (Eric) DeStefano and Kristin (Sean) Fortier; her siblings, Timothy, Sharon, Jon, Dennis and Robert; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Doris True, and her younger brother, Kevin E. True.
