I describe myself as a “recovering Republican”. I grew up in an Ayn Rand worshiping household in the conservative heartland of North Central Texas of the 1950’s and ’60’s. It wasn’t until I moved away from Texas, became a firefighter/ paramedic, and began to experience the realities of the broader world that I began to realize how myopic and filtered my view of the world was.

30 years in the public sector and the international society that exists in Florida have led me to understand how out of balance things are in this country today. Many would describe me as a leftist, but they would be wrong. I would describe myself as a “balancist” who believes there must be a balance, not just from right to left, but also from top to bottom, in a just and functional society. That balance does not exist in the America of today. Things are heavily tilted to the top and to the right.
I will do my best to bring attention to different aspects of that imbalance, and, sometimes, to offer thoughts on how that imbalance might be corrected. Hopefully, I can get just a few more Americans to really pay attention to what’s going on in the political world that has so much affect, for better and worse, in their daily life.
