Theresa and Ralph Detweiler celebrate 65 years of marriage

Ralph and Theresa Detweiler of Orange City celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at a surprise party July 10 with family and friends, hosted by their children.
The couple married July 15, 1944, at Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mount Arlington, N.J. During their marriage, they lived in Mine Hill, N.J., and Kenvil, N.J., and were active members of American Legion Post 391 in Mine Hill.
Ralph Detweiler served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Duluth CL-87 during World War II. He retired from Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway, N.J., in 1986, and he and Theresa moved to Florida that year.
The Detweiler family includes children Joan Sandler and her husband, Mark, and Kathi O’Donnell, all of DeBary, and Ralph Jr. of Somerville, N.J., six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
