This year, there’s one set of candidates up for election in Lake Helen's Zone 1: incumbent Ann Robbins and political newbie Gary Tallacksen.
Robbins, who will be running for her fourth term, says she's not a rubber stamp, and she’s got the track record to prove it.
Tallacksen says it's time for things to change — but stay the same. He wants to make sure that Lake Helen is preserved just as it is, and says new leadership will help.
Early voting, which began Oct. 26, continues 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. through Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Volusia County Department of Elections (in the Volusia County Historic Courthouse), 125 W. New York Ave. in DeLand.
Election Day is 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5. Ballots can be cast at Hopkins Hall, 192 W. Connecticut Ave. in Lake Helen, or at the Volusia County Department of Elections.
