It's official: General admission to Stetson University's first football game is sold out.
"All general admission is sold out, student seating is sold out," said Greg Carroll, vice president of university marketing. "Some reserve seating is still available."
At press time Aug. 28, there were 400 reserve-seat and season tickets still available.
Carroll said the ticket-office phones have been ringing off the hook.
"They sold 1,500 tickets in two days," he said.
Spec Martin Memorial Stadium seats 5,000 spectators.
Prices for season tickets and reserved seats vary by package. For more information about prices, visit www.gohatters.com.
South Alabama Avenue, between Hubbard and Euclid avenues, will be closed before the 7 p.m. kickoff Saturday, Aug. 31, to make way for festivities in Hatter Village.
Carroll said the university is working to create a fan experience there that will include vendors and giveaways, along with live entertainment and interactive games and events.
For $20 each, Stetson University will sell parking spots in various lots near the stadium, where fans may have tailgate parties. Parking spots will be sold on a first come, first served basis.
There will also be free parking in Downtown DeLand with a shuttle service (see accompanying story).
After the game, fireworks will fill the skies over Spec Martin Memorial Stadium, 262 E. Euclid Ave.
