Bob Turk, DeLand's economic development manager for the past three years, is leaving for greener pastures closer to home in Sanford. He'll be the director of economic development for the Seminole County seat.
Turk resigned at the end of April; his last day in DeLand is set for Friday, May 10.
"When a head-hunter called and said there was a similar position paying more, it got my attention," said Turk, who has been commuting from Lake Mary to DeLand since his hiring.
Assistant City Manager Dale Arrington said now the city will advertise the economic development manager position, and if all goes well, could fill the position "within a couple of months."
