A man who tried to help stop a theft at Walmart is behind bars.

Jose Martinez, 36, was arrested and charged with two felonies after police said he shot at a car in the parking lot of the Orange City Walmart on Veterans Memorial Parkway.

The driver of the vehicle was also arrested, and charged with two misdemeanors. Orange City police said the driver, Eddie McKee, 42, had left the Walmart Supercenter with $200 worth of meat he didn't pay for.

Zimmerman will walk. Bank on it. The two situations couldn't be more different.

Zimmerman was getting his skull bashed in and was saving his own skin. This guy had delusions of grandeur.

Deep South ftw.

Any of you that have a CCP knows that you are not allowed to act like a cop and use your gun unless someones life is in immediate danger.

I have a CCP and I will use my gun to protect someone if their life is in danger but if someone is stealing meat from a grocery store let the cops deal with it.

It is a sad day in Orange City. The State Attorney should drop charges on our local hero Jose Martinez and they should send him to firearms training so he can become a more accurate shooter.

This sounds like the story about the security guard warning the two young mall customers, saying," I want to warn you, I couldn't pass the Police Dept. entrance exam and I'm Armed"

If you try to stop a shoplifter at wal mart with a firearm, you are a moron. Please turn in your weapons sir. Even if I worked at Wal mart, I wouldn't chase a shoplifter. He stole from Wal mart. Who cares?
