The annual DeLand High School Bulldog Big D Relays will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at the DHS track, with one of the highlights coming at 1 p.m. when former Bulldog outstanding athlete Johnnie Daniels will be inducted into the school's Sports Hall of Fame.
The East Coast Invitational will be held Friday, March 22, at Flagler Palm Coast.
In a recent track meet, Flagler Palm Coast posted a victory with 198 points. Following were Spruce Creek, 141; Gainesville Buchholz, 83; 8. DeLand, 21; 12. Deltona, 3, among boys.
DeLand boys:
1. Ken Pineiro, 800, 2:01.07; 4. Tedvin Smothers, high jump, 5-10; 6. Stefan Guire, 400, 52.72; 7. Bryan Rodriguez, 400, 52.82; and 8. Kevin Lora, 10-6.
Deltona boys:
6. 4X200, 1:44.45.

In another meet, it was the Lake Brantley Open on Saturday, Feb. 23, with Orlando Olympia heading the boys with 101.5 points, with Orange City University 12th with 23.5.
University boys: 2. C.J. Westfall, 3200, 10:10.84; 7. 4X400, 3:35.61; 5. Matthew Goble, high jump, 5-8; 5. Deloton Kelly, 800, 2:02.97; 5. Desmond Robb, 400, 49:46; and 7. Robb, 200, 22.42.
Orlando Evans won the girls' division with 103.5 points, with University 16th with 11.
University girls: 1. Mikea Pooler, high jump, 5-2; and 8. Christen Daniels, 3200, 5:39.72.
