DeBary City Council members unanimously agreed on “DeBary Community Park” for the name of the city’s new splash park at its recent meeting. The park at 137 South U.S. Highway 17-92 will bear that name during grand-opening ceremonies being planned for Saturday, May 4.
The Community Park name leaves room in the park for plaques to honor DeBary’s prominent residents.
A memorial parkway will be installed and City Manager Dan Parrott said he would come back in a future meeting with some ideas for memorial plaques or bricks.
The council also authorized Parrott to proceed with having a sound system installed in the gazebo. The estimated cost is $10,100.

I can't wait till my house sells and I can say goodbye to this one horse town and all the small narrow minded idiots that thrive here!
Trust me liberals don't live in country clubs and vote themselves parks, they usually do for others before themselves!
The real problem is the folks keep voting the idiots into office that make the decisions
wasteful spending that i can't do at my house or my son in his apartment with rents going up up up. we've got the same liberals on the council that are up on Pennsylvania avenue.
What about the cities irrigation on in the middle of the day watering landscaping that only looks nice the first week it's been planted.
If you look at all the cities around us they are all wasteful and are indignant when you question them. The real problem is the folks keep voting the idiots into office that make the decisions. Case in point look who's sitting in the White House and running the country.
How long before this council will change the name of DeBary to Carson Parks? It flows so easy of the tongue and will fit into the theme of Winter Park, Avon Park, and Tangelo Park. Me thinks the wool has been pulled over our eyes. It must be the progressive way, keep spending the money, it’s the new way of doing business!
Bob seems to be the only one who is concerned about the people of DeBary. Rest of the council is self-serving. Don't take my word for it .... look at the record.
crazy isn't so crazy votes them out this october
Last night WKMG channel 6 did a story on Debary crime...5 burglaries in one week.
Are more parks going to help...really?
There was another vehicle breakin at Gemini Springs Park on Feb 25th...GO DEBARY!
Debary City Council needs to wake up and grow up start addressing real issues.
Hunt and Carson are worried about spending $10,000 on speakers for that ridiculous park..because they are children
Is this the same park that cost $460,000?
Is this the same one that will cost approx. $10,000 annually to operate?
Is this the one that is near the exhaust from Longs funeral home creamatory exhaust stack?
Is this the one located too close to hwy 17-92 and puts people in harm's way from traffic going 45MPH thru town?
Some contractor made a bundle on this one just ask Dan Parrott and the council who pushed for this JOKE when Debary is $10.5 million in debt?
YOU KNOW I HAD TO COMMENT....$460K wasted
HAHAHAHAHA & don't make me sick, "prominent residents" yea, we all know who they will be. You won't have to HUNT to hard or use your CAR son, to find out.
