In Circuit Judge Margaret Hudson's DeLand courtroom today, Feb. 18, Joshua Waguespack was sentenced to five years in prison for video voyeurism while he was a teacher at St. Peter Catholic School in DeLand.

In January, Waguespack pleaded no contest to three counts of video voyeurism and one count of tampering with evidence.

Using pen cameras, police said, Waguespack videoed middle-school girls undressing in a supply closet at the school. The students used the closet to change into gym clothes.

Waguespack will have 299 days credit on his sentence for time already served in jail. He will also have to undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation, treatment and an annual polygraph test. Waguespack is to have no contact with the victims, their families or any person under the age of 18 without prior approval by his probation officer. He will be prohibited from working at a school or participating in school events.

The video voyeurism charges do not fall under the state's statutes for sex offenders, so Waguespack will not have to register as a sex offender once his prison sentence and probation are over.

Had this sick puppy been given more time and not caught when he was....chances are his voyeurism would have escaled to predatory level. Oh too, pick a boo is a harmless baby's game. If what they say is true....His jail mates will fix his problem as previously stated. I only hope so...and if by chance he does dodge that bullet......he still has to deal with God in the end...NOBODY messes with one of His children....I don't even have to pray about that one....it's a given !!!!!

It IS an INjustice system. But just because violent criminals have gotten dangerously light sentences doesnt mean this psychologically violent thug should too. How can taping children undressed not be a sex crime ? WHY is this not child pornography?

Secretly recording little girls undressing doesn't qualify him as a sex offender?

That's a bad law that needs to be changed.

Hmmmm I think it is a bit harsh. People who have committed armed robbery have gotten far less. Lets see violent crime vs picaboo. Don't get me wrong, I am not defending this creep. Just saying it is kinda odd how the injustice system works. I know of a guy that beat a guy near his death who only got a few months and another who physically raped a young girl who even go less then this guy.
