The Stetson Hatters men's basketball team boosted its standings in the Atlantic Sun Conference race here Feb. 7, with a 73-66 triumph over the South Carolina Upstate Spartans.
The Hats improved to 7-5 in the ASC and 10-13 overall, while the Spartans slipped to 7-5 and 13-12, respectively. Stetson will be hosting the East Tennessee State Bucs at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, following a women's game between the two schools at 1 p.m.
Adam Pegg bucketed 19 points to headline the Hatter attack, with Chris Perez adding 16. Willie Green just missed a double-double, with 11 points, and nine rebounds, while dishing out five assists. Pegg and Perez each had seven picks off the glass, while Joel Naburgs also had five assists.
Torrey Craig paced the visitors with 16 points, while Fred Miller and Ricardo Glenn followed with 11 points and 10 points, respectively. Jodd Maxey grabbed 12 rebounds.
The score was tied, 15-15, with 11:06 to play in the half, with the Hats inching ahead, 36-34, at the break. SU never trailed in the second half.
