UPDATE FEB. 8: The Volusia County Sheriff's Office cited the driver of an SUV that crashed into a child-care-center bus in Deltona Feb. 7.

The wreck occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Saxon and Normandy boulevards, when a bus owned by DTA Academy and a sport-utility vehicle collided.

The drivers of both vehicles were rushed to the emergency room of Florida Hospital-Fish Memorial in Orange City. The driver of the SUV had a severe leg injury, officials said. The driver of the bus complained of neck and back pain.

Some of the children aboard the bus suffered "bumps and bruises," according to Sheriff's Office spokesman Brandon Haught, but no serious injuries.

A passenger in the SUV was not injured, the Sheriff's Office said.

The Sheriff's Office said the driver of the SUV was at fault in the crash. Two witnesses reported seeing the SUV run a red light just before the collision, the Sheriff's Office said.

The Sheriff’s Office cited the SUV driver for failure to stop at a red light, and for driving with a suspended license.

None of the children were taken to the hospital. The child-care center sent another bus to take the children back to DTA Academy.

Thanks for the link! That is the word that I was meditating on driung the month of February. It is always interesting to me how God uses parables, in and through ordinary things in my life, to bring to light the point He wants me to focus on in various seasons.

De Land PD needs to be more aware of non-auto traffic violations. I myself nearly clobbered two skateboarders tearing down Amelia. And I **** near got run over by a bike on the sidewalk on Woodland. Bikes stay off the sidewalk, and no skateboarding on heavily traveled roads!! (rant rant)

Yes Dennis Mulder is the owner . But what does that have to do with anything? The other driver ran the red light!

Isn't DTA Academy owned by former Deltona Mayor Dennis Maulder?

The driver of the bus is a professional driver. She used to drive tour buses in New York City and around the country. All the children were safe because of her quick thinking and driving skills. There should be some authorities and parents hugging their children and thanking Ms. Wallace today. She is a wonderful person. God Bless them all. Debra
