Plant City has nothing on West Volusia, and the Crump family of Vo-LaSalle Farms is out to prove it.
Come out 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, for the first annual Strawberry Festival. "The berries are big, beautiful and plentiful," Steve Crump said.
"The weather should be perfect for it," he added.
Visitors can bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at the farm, in between free hayrides through the grove, checking out a bald-eagle nest and baby goats, and picking strawberries and oranges for a nominal price. Or, visit the farm store to buy honey and a variety of marmalades and fresh-picked citrus.
Vo-LaSalle Farms is at 601 Johnson Lake Road in DeLeon Springs. For more information, call 386-985-0046.
