The Stetson Hatter men's basketball team successfully opened a two-game Atlantic Sun Conference road trip Jan. 10 at East Tennessee State University, holding off the Bucs down the stretch for a 72-70 triumph.

The win boosted the Hats into a fourth-place tie with Jacksonville University at 3-2 and 6-10 overall. They trail Florida Gulf Coast, 4-1, 12-6; Mercer, 3-1, 10-7; and South Carolina Upstate, which is where the Hats will be playing Jan. 12.

It will then be back in the Edmunds Center at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, for a clash with Northern Kentucky. On Saturday, Jan. 19, at 3:15 p.m., they will host Lipscomb, following a women's game at 1 p.m.

Against the Bucs, the Hats led all the way except for an 8-8 draw with 14:54 to play in the first half, working ahead, 40-32, at the intermission.

Adam Pegg and Chris Perez paced SU with 17 points apiece, while Aaron Graham added 13 points, with five assists, and Joel Naburgs grabbed six rebounds.

ETSU player Lester Wilson took game-high honors with 21 points, with teammate Jarvis Jones netting 19 points, while teammate Hunter Harris accounted for 16 points, and swept the glass for seven rebounds.
