The children of Malloy Head Start Child Development Center had a happy holiday, thanks to the DeLeon Springs Lions Club and Mount Zion AME Church of DeLeon Springs.
Lions Club member Doris McWilliams has been organizing the community project for 10 years, and enjoys working with the children. This year, the theme was “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
The children, staff and volunteers all joined in a pajama party with healthy snacks, games and, of course, a reading of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas by McWilliams.
“I really enjoy reading to the children,” McWilliams said.
Ninety children went home with gifts from Santa and food items for a holiday dinner.
Pastor Shirley Myrick of Mount Zion AME Church of DeLeon Springs was happy to bring gifts to the children.
“We do what we can,” Myrick said.
