The DeLand Lady Bulldog basketball team was scheduled for an early start today, Thursday, Dec. 27, when they opened the 16-team Florida Prospects Christmas Tournament being played at Orlando Dr. Phillips High School.
The DHS girls were slated to square off with West Orange at 9 a.m. in the Blue Division, followed by Daytona Beach Seabreeze vs. Orlando Colonial at 10:30 a.m. Also, it will be Parkland Douglas vs. Lake Highlands Prep, 1:30 p.m., and Miramar Parkway vs. Bushnell South Sumter, 4:30 p.m.
The schedule for the Gold Division has Poinciana vs. Tampa Jefferson, noon; Davie Nova vs. Lake Brantley, 3 p.m.; St. Augustine vs. B.E. Mays High School in Georgia, 6 p.m.; with Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons paired with hosting Dr. Phillips.
The pairings for Friday, Dec. 28, and Saturday, Dec. 29, will depend on the outcome of the earlier tournament action.
