Company provides 45 jobs for West Volusia

Kappa Map Co. has moved into its newly remodeled Downtown DeLand offices.
The company, which produces atlases and road maps as well as interactive educational maps, brings 45 employees to Downtown DeLand, President Jerry Killian said.
After The Baumgartner Co. negotiated a lease for the mapping company on the 8,000-square-foot former Orange Belt Pharmacy building at 112 E. New York Ave., Kappa undertook a $100,000 remodeling. DNR Constructors was the contractor.
Kappa Map Co. was located at the DeLand Municipal Airport, but the building needed repairs and was in foreclosure, Roger Baumgartner said. He said Kappa would have moved to Sanford had the Downtown DeLand location not been available.
