The DeLand Lady Bulldog basketball team (10-2) was scheduled to open the 16-team tournament at 9 a.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Orlando Dr. Phillips High School.
The DHS girls had reeled off 10-straight wins, before bowing, 78-71, to the Sanford Seminoles, and then, 63-60, to Atlantic.
DeLand is playing in the Blue Division, with their first test against West Orange. Following at 10:30 a.m., it will be Daytona Beach Seabreeze vs. Orlando Colonial; Parkland Douglas vs. Lake Highlands Prep, at 1:30 p.m.; at Miramar Parkway vs. Bushnell South Sumter, at 4:30 p.m.
The Gold Division will find Poinciana opening with Tampa Jefferson at noon. The other games will find Davie Nova vs. Lake Brantley, at 3 p.m.; St. Augustine vs. B.E. Mays (Georgia), at 6 p.m.; and Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons vs. Dr. Phillips, at 7:30 p.m.
The Wednesday, Dec. 19, and Thursday, Dec. 20, pairings will depend on the results of the earlier games.
