Osteen Organics is offering free hayrides and a chance to pet baby goats and other farm critters with the purchase of a Christmas tree. The aquaponics farm, West Volusia’s experimental farm raising tilapia fish, is selling Fraser firs at 445 S. State Road 415, near the Osteen Bridge in Osteen.

Hours are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. daily through Christmas; after that, farm hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m.Monday-Saturday, and Sundays by appointment.

Osteen Organics also teaches aquaponics, which is a system of growing fish and vegetables together.

The crew at Osteen Organics also built a 50-foot-tall Florida Christmas tree using large living palms, based on the childhood tale of the “Giving Tree.” Any visitor to the farm is invited to hang on the tree an ornament with the family’s name and a wish, along with the opportunity to fulfill the wish of another. Visitors may run into Santa, too.

The farm was the site of Osteen’s first annual Community Thanksgiving Potluck, and will host the rural area’s first Community Christmas Dinner.
