The DeLand Parks and Recreation Department has announced several upcoming activities.

... The Rec. Dept. and DeLand Nissan will host a Toys for Kids softball tournament Friday, Dec. 7, through Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Sperling Sports Complex.
There will be Men's and Coed Divisions, with a two-game guarantee. The entry fee per player is a toy valued at $20. The deadline for entering has slipped past; however, if interested, you still might be able to get in.
... The DeLand Drive Basketball Academy for boys and girls ages 4-15 is scheduled for league play Jan. 15-March 3, with the age as of Sept. 1, 2012.
The league is scheduled to operate at the old DeLand High School gym and the Chisholm Community Center. The cost per child is $45 (plus a $3 nonresident fee) for early registration by Dec. 28, or $50 after that date.
Each player will receive a team jersey, shorts and an award. The success of any recreation program depends largely on having parents volunteer to coach. Register now.
... Free basketball clinics for youth ages 9-15 are being offered Dec. 13, as well as Jan. 8, 10 and 12, in the old DeLand High School gym. Ages 9-11 will be at 6 p.m., and ages 12-15 will be at 7 p.m.
... Also, the Rec. Dept. and DeLand Nissan will be hosting a Toys for Kicks kickball tournament Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Sperling Sports Complex. The tournament is open to men and women, with a two-game guarantee.
The entry fee per player is a toy valued at $10, which will be donated to the Chisholm Community Center. The deadline to enter is Tuesday, Dec. 11.
... The Food Truck Bazaar will becoming to DeLand's Earl Brown Park 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16. The bazaar is Central Florida's original traveling event, bringing the deliciousness of the Orlando food-truck scene to DeLand.
Enjoy a nighttime outdoor community-dinner atmosphere, sit in your favorite lawn chair, and eat delicious gourmet treats, burgers, barbecue, and desserts. Entertainment will also be available while you enjoy your food.
Everyone is being asked to bring an unwrapped toy or canned goods. All proceeds will support local families. Santa will be in attendance, so bring your camera.
