The girls are seeking donations to help make the trip possible. Those wishing to help should call Ann McGlashan at 386-479-5889 or email her at anniemaemac@gmail.com.

Congrats to to "ME" She/He has the inate logic to see through the smoke and mirrors. It's about the money. Disney and Pop prey upon the emotions to maximize their profits. Their concern is removing money from your pockets and repositioning it into theirs. Perhaps Walt and Pop are rolling, while their contemporaries are banking the rewards.

I congratulate the girls but in this economy people have to seriously consider how much money is required for these activities. Why does the Pop Warner organization require kids to stay overnight when they can easily drive back and forth? How much money is spent on required "Pop warner" outfits and fees? This has become big business and if the cost becomes so big that months are spent just fundraising maybe someone needs to step up and just have cheerleading or football for the fun of it and not require a budget like the NFL. I know it is "for the children" but is the legacy we leave our children...to go into debt at 12 years old for an activity?

@Fanny and @Anthony, so it's not ok for children to seek help to raise money for something they spent months earning? But it's ok for veterans and (per the season) Salvation Army to ask for donations...or what about girl scouts? I bet you bought some cookies! These kids (boys and girls, cheer and football) are not on the street selling drugs, they aren't fighting or stealing, and they most definitely aren't failing school. All of which are important aspects for a young child. Pop Warner is consisted of volunteers, parents, and teachers who all collaborate to pay OUT OF POCKET for equipment, field time, gym time, food, uniforms (which included but is not limited to: skirts, shirts, spanks, pants, and long sleeve shirts, bows, shoes, etc.), and many more things. If you have ever donated a day in your life, guess what?! You gave a handout. These girls love to cheer, it gives them something to look forward to. Out teaches them respect, determination, pride, team work, leadership, and many more positive aspects. You my friend are a normal human being with your own thoughts and opinions but, I have just one last thing to say, I bet at some point in your life you asked "Can I borrow $5?", or "can I borrow...anything?", everyone, I don't care who you are, has asked this. Isn't that asking for a handout?

On another note: GO PANTHERS!! D.P...YOU KNOW!

I just want to say Congratulations JPW Panthers, and DeLand Midgets also!! I am with the WOLVES, but I am fully supportive of any local team who has made it! Ignore the crude, rude statements from ignorant people like Fanny and Anthony!! They are just trying to get a rise out of people. Percy's comment says exactly what kind of people they are!! Now, with that being said, our JPW WOLVES are #1 champs in the whole SouthEast! They are going to Disney today. They had 1 short week to raise $15,000 dollars to cover expenses for the week they will hopefully be there. And guess what!!!! They did it, and every donor is listed on their website! The whole community, most of who were strangers and businesses were behind our boys!!! So there, Fanny and Anthony! Put that in your pipe and smoke it!! You two are the minority! These kids have been fundraising all year! It's just what we do. I guess you're kids don't play any team sports or you would know what really goes on.

GO PANTHER'S, BULLDOGS, AND ALL THE WOLVES, FOOTBALL AND CHEERLEADER'S!! WE LOVE YOU ALL!!

Wow!!! I wonder what kind of children Fanny is raising... Probably Deltona's future thieves or drug dealers, with such a wonderful and positive model figure as a "mom" I really do feel sorry for your kids, hopefully our tax money does not go to your kids when they are in either juvenile detention or jail!!! Anthony you make no sence! JPW we are proud of you guys for representing FLORIDA this Monday, our kids play with the Wolves and we are very proud you guys made it this far, we are spreading the word and will have friends and family come out to support you guys!!!!

I truly can't believe the comments on here. Our Girls have worked so hard to get where they are and for someone to say that they should not do bake sales/car washes and raise money is just beyond me. My daughter is a JPW cheerleader and she has put 100% day and night into this team. As well as her parents and family supporting her all the way. The way I look at it if we make them raise the money, it teaches them to work to get what they need not to just ask mommy and daddy. They have worked so hard to raise money. I will be there cheering my baby girl on at nationals and for all you negative people ... you have no idea what it's like for your little girl to win 1st place with her team!!! Go Panthers we are so proud of all of you!!!!!

Okay, Cheer mom's, community mom's, I am the Aunt & Godmother of one of these talented cheerleaders and so so proud.

Don't let these radical freaks upset you. That's exactly what they want. Keep calm & cool, stay proud and positive. These negative comments are just that, negative. Don't even waste another minute on anyone who is so sour and bitter.

And as for raising money, OMG they're children for God's sake! When we were kids, looking to make money the only way we knew how, our PARENTS suggested we do exactly what these girls are doing! Selling goods and services to earn money. There's nothing wrong with their fundraising. I had to wait until I was 14 to get a workers permit, these kids are 9, 10 & 11!On a more serious note, How is this different from all of the Boys Scouts, Girl Scouts etc. raising money? In light of the recent Hurricane Sandy, how is this different from the American Red Cross. If those out there don't want to donate, then don't. But there are people who are proud and want to be a part of this big moment for these wonderful kids!

These girls will get to Nationals and show that they "Earned" being there.

Fanny, you are well named.."mournful" and Anthony your last named should be spelled "Nit"wit. Our girls have worked so hard to reach their goal, everyone should be cheering them on instead of saying hurtful, nasty words. You both should remember that its better to say nothing and let people wonder if you are ignorant, than to open your mouth and prove it. GO JPW!!

@Fanny and Anthony - Are you seriously stating that these wonderful kids and their parents are contributing to our nation's economincal distress?!!? I know two of the cheerleading moms and their beautiful girls and to have you judge them is in incredibly poor taste. I am in awe of these girls accomplishment and their desire to EARN their way to Disney. To further say that because they are asking for help now means that your children will have to show them compassion later in life is ludicrous! How can you possibly teach your children compassion when you obviously do not possess one ounce of it? Please have the common decency to keep your acidic remarks to yourselves and leave this board open for only positive remarks.

Congratulations to these young ladies and their dedicated parents for a job well done! I'm sure you will have a great experience at Disney filled with lots of lifelong memories! You have my support!

These are 9,10,11 year olds..do you want them to go out and get jobs??!! Again, THEY HAVE BEEN FUNDRAISING!!!!!! They go to school 5 days a week and are required to maintain a certain GPA. They practice 5 days a week, 2 hours a day, for the first three weeks of August. After that.. three days a week, 2 hours each of those day until the end of October for football season...not to mention Saturday football games. They continue to practice for local competition. If they move on to Regionals, which in this case they did, they continue to practice 3-4 days a week for a month. AND THEY FUNDRAISE ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT!!! They have put 100% effort, commitment, and all of their little hearts into this!! I sincerely hope that if you are ever in need of the support of YOUR community, you are not met with the negativity and ignorance that you and Fanny have displayed.

Anthony, have you read none of the other comments posted?? These girls are not asking for handouts, they are asking for the support of their community to assist them as they knock themselves out at carwashes, bake sales, and rummage sales...and let's not forget that they are doing all of that around cheer practice, school and homework to maintain the high GPA's required to be in cheer, and other extracurricular activities in the community. Funny, I have never heard slander to the police or fire departments for having boot drops for donations. It is called being part of something bigger than yourself, and taking pride in the young people that are going to be taking care of you one day. "It takes a village to raise a child". God forbid we support the next generation in something healthy and productive, huh, Anthony and Fanny? Let's just turn our backs and let them run the streets instead and then you can really have something to complain about. These girls deserve your respect, not your desdain. Shame on you.

I'm rather offended. I have children, they have EARNED EVERYTHING they have.

My spouse and I taught them that if they can't earn it on their own, they don't get it.

I guess you all like teaching them to beg for handouts.

I will remind my children to be compassionate when they hire your children to work for them, if they actually have any work ethic after you're through rearing them.

Exactly Fanny!

Lets just teach our kids that if you can't earn the money yourself, go ask for a free handout.

It has worked so well for America so far, hasn't it? $16T and climbing .....

Lets teach 'em young that the way to live is beg for free stuff, no need to actually do work.

Great job on getting to the finals but if you can't earn your way, DON'T GO!

WOW - I have never been so appalled in my life. How in the world can a person (Fanny) be so negative and hateful towards children. I have been with most of these girls for 4 years and I can tell you that they have put in countless hours and good deeds to the community not only as cheerleaders, students, some girl scouts as citizen of Deltona. They have worked hard to get this honor to represent the State of Florida, Pop Warner and Deltona at this Monday's National Championship and why not help them experience a opportunity of a lifetime. This is something that they can look back on one day and say wow, we did this and with the help of our families, friends and our community. Maybe before you chastise these amazing, talented, respectful and caring young ladies and their parents, you should attend a football game, a cheer competition or stop by one of their fundraiser and meet them, their families, and coaches then make your judgement. I commend our coaches, girls, families and those who have stepped up to make a donation, simple because not all these girls families have the means to pay for their daughters credential for competition, hotel room or to cost of the food, lets not mention the tickets to watch their child perform etc. There is much more that goes into a 1 hour car ride. I truly am honored to be a part of such a great team and organization that teaches our children of tomorrow respect, integrity and compassion cause they will need it to deal with people like you. PS: Mary - your a awesome grandma, thanks for sticking up for the girls. I wish you could be here to experience this with us!!!

Good luck Panthers. Esp my little favorite! To all the negative people..You have no idea about cheerleading and Pop Warner. These young ladies have been practicing since August. Cheered all Panther football games during the season and practicing extra for competition.

All while maintaing a high GPA a Pop Warner requirement. These girls pay to cheer each year, pay extra for gym time to practice indoors in a safe environment. They have competition costs..registration per girl. And usually you need to be there the day before the competition to practice and register the team

These competitions cost money and they have been fundraising.

Support these girls on their way to a National Championship...something this town should support.

Team sports prepare these kids for college with time management skills and staying focused and committed.

Good Luck Panthers...I will give a donation to VT!

@fanny:

You have know idea what your are talking about. Please keep your ignorant comments to yourself. You could have simply congratulated a group of girls who have worked incredibly hard over the last 4 months to earn the opportunity to compete on a national stage.

They have been fundraising all season long, the parents are involved, the grandparents are involved. They will raise the money needed, but its a little more involved than an hour car ride..........

@Mary are you really being negative for us parents trying to raise enough money for these 35 girls and coaches that have work so hard all season? You must not have children or you must not know the feeling of love and joy these girls have of being able to accomplishment making it to the top and being #1 at that! The JPW team has not made it this far since 2007 this is not only an accomplishment it is also a celebration for them!! Keep your negative comments to yourself. There is nothing wrong with asking for donations. These girls have been fund raising all season, and we all know how that works, only a few people show up to car washes, or bake sales.

Asking for a donation is not asking for a handout, don't know what had made you so negative.

If sports was like it use to be, the schools would be funding these activities and not the parents who have to practically beg people to help and most of the time take the money out of their own pocket.

So don't listen to this negative person. Donate what you can to help these children and any other children who is asking.

It keep them off the streets and away from drugs.

@Fanny...the girls have actually been fundraising for over a month. We have done bake sales, rummage sales, car washes and bucket drops. They are required by Pop Warner to stay at Disney for a minimum of one night, plus they need to be fed while they are there. We have 35 girls, 5 coaches, and required chaperones. The money required to go is not a small amount. The have worked very hard to get themselves to Nationals. Negative comments aren't really necessary!

"The girls are seeking donations to help make the trip possible."

For a one hour car trip?

How about if they actually did something to earn the money, instead of just asking for a handout. Or is that asking too much, it is better to teach them to beg and not do anything productive.....
