The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed home invasion that happened early Monday morning in Deltona. Three men burst in through a back door and held the victims at gunpoint while they stole cash and electronics. No one was injured and no shots were fired during the incident.
Just before 1 a.m. the suspects smashed through a sliding glass door at the rear of 3200 Pigeon Cove Street. Three adults and one 7-year-old girl were sleeping in the house at the time, but the sound of breaking glass woke all of the adults. One gunman went into a bedroom where two of the adult victims were and ordered them to get back on their bed. Another suspect found the third adult victim on the couch where she was pretending to still be asleep. It’s not believed that the juvenile was confronted during the robbery. The suspects stole cash, purses and electronics. After spending about ten minutes in the house, the suspects fled out through the front door. The victims believe the gunmen then drove away, but none of the suspects saw the vehicle.
The victims didn’t get a good look at the suspects, partly because the gunmen wore ski masks, but they told deputies that the men were all Hispanic. One man wore a yellow zip-up hoodie and had a black handgun. He was about 5’4” tall with a medium build. Another suspect had on a dark colored leather jacket. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (386) 860-7030. Anyone who has information, but prefers to remain anonymous, can call Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS. They can also text a tip to Crime Stoppers by texting “TIP231 plus your message” to CRIMES. Residents who provide information to Crime Stoppers can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
