Nicole Turner was grateful to be at DeLand's Veteran's Day parade Nov. 10.

The U.S. Army veteran shared some photos with The Beacon illustrating her experience at the parade.

"As a veteran myself, the Veteran’s Day Parade to me was very emotional," Turner said. "I think of all of our men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Also, I think of my Aunt Lee, who served as an Army captain and chief surgical nurse in North Africa during World War II. As a woman, she was close to the front lines, but never considered herself a hero. Too me, she was. We are blessed to have these precious souls giving their all for our country."
