This is a super-busy time for athletes on the Stetson University campus, with regular in-season contests, preparing for some upcoming action, or just practicing.
Both the men's and women's basketball teams are working toward the opening of their 2012-13 campaigns, which are just around the corner.
The Hatter baseballers have a special day at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, when they will host Canada's National Team on Melching Field at Conrad Park. The annual Hatter Series will follow.
The Hat softballers are also busy, and have a five-game fall slate, with the first being here at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, against Seminole State.
Of course the football drills are continuing, with more scrimmage sessions on tap.
Volleyball action on Saturday, Oct. 6, had the Hats hosting both Florida Gulf Coast University and Savannah State. The Hats will be on the road to Northern Kentucky on Friday, Oct. 12, and South Carolina Upstate on Saturday, Oct. 13, for Atlantic Sun Conference action.
The Hatter men's soccer team had an ASC match on Sunday, Oct. 7, at Mercer, and then have a non-conference test at the University of Central Florida on Wednesday, Oct. 10. On Sunday, Oct. 14, the South Carolina Upstate Spartans will be playing here at 1 p.m.
Over the past weekend, the Stetson women's soccer team was on the road playing Friday, Oct. 5, at Jacksonville University and then Sunday, Oct. 7, at the University of North Florida. Upcoming, the Hats will be heading to Florida Gulf Coast University for a match on Saturday, Oct. 13.
Both the men's and women's cross-country teams were scheduled for the Walt Disney World Classic on Saturday, Oct. 6. They will follow this by taking part in the University of Central Florida Black and Gold Invitational at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12.
Looking to the links, we find the Hatter women golfers at the Legends in Daytona Beach in a multi-team event Friday through Sunday, Oct. 12-14.
The SU men will in Morganton, N.C., with a group of teams at the Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 15-16.
Over the past weekend, the Stetson women's tennis team was slated to be playing in the Wake Forest University Invitational.
The Hatter men will be on the road Sunday through Tuesday, Oct. 14-16, playing at the University of Tennessee Invitational.
