Stetson University may not be fielding a football team until 2013 in the Pioneer Football League; however, that doesn’t mean there can’t be tailgating parties.
In fact, Hatter head coach Roger Hughes has already attended such events in various parts of the country.
Now, something a little different is planned that will draw Florida Gator and Florida State Seminole fans into the Stetson nest. Also, the Georgia Bulldogs and Boston College Eagles fans as well.
Actually, the call is out for two tailgating events to celebrate with coach Hughes, Stetson Athletic Director Jeff Altier, and fellow Hatters and staff.
The first is Saturday, Oct. 13, when the Seminoles host Boston College in Doak Campbell Stadium, 403 Stadium Drive West in Tallahassee. Tailgating will be five hours before the kickoff, which is yet to be announced.
Game tickets for the south end zone will cost $25. Tickets for tailgaters will be $15 in advance, and $25 on game day. The tailgate gathering will be at the Tallahassee Seminole Club tailgate area.
The second special event will be on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Florida-Georgia game in Jacksonville at EverBank Field, 1 EverBank Field Drive. Tailgating begins at 10 a.m., with the kickoff at 3:30 p.m.
Fans are invited to join the SU TV and bus caravan from here in the AA parking lot. At the gathering, the cost will be $15 for Sonny’s BBQ, beverages and snacks. Tickets are available only for the tailgating party.
To RSVP, or for additional information about these and other alumni events, visit www.stetson.edu/alumni/events or call 800-688-HATS.
