Many things have certainly changed over Enterprise Elementary School’s 100 years. But one thing hasn’t changed: The school is a community school.
Generations of families have learned reading, writing and arithmetic at the school on Main Street.
“I think what is unique is there is a big history of families, generations, through families, who have attended the school,” music teacher Marci Wiltz said. “It creates a real home for the community.”
Wiltz built the school’s end-of-year music program around the theme of the 100-year history.
“We’re here, celebrating with a musical tribute to celebrate the 100-years anniversary,” she said. “We’re inviting the community; we’ve invited historians; we’ve invited local musicians to come and share with the students.”
Students spoke, danced, sang and cheered in the musical extravaganza. Parents and other community and family members packed the house.
Enterprise Elementary is at 211 Main St. in Enterprise. The principal is Dr. Virginia Abernathy. For more information, visit blackboard.volusia.k12.fl.us, or call 386-575-4135.
