DELAND

Lisa A. Grant, physical therapist and athletic trainer at Florida Hospital DeLand, has earned certification as a Kinesio Taping Practitioner. Kinesio Taping is a treatment that utilizes highly-specialized elastic tape and is proven to be helpful in reducing localized swelling associated with surgery, sports injuries, acute trauma and lymphedema.

The tape was developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase and it has taken professional sports by storm, as athletes use the tape to give their muscles more elasticity. It's been seen on athletes such as David Beckham and Lance Armstrong, as well as throughout the 2008 Olympics. However, Kinesio Taping is also sweeping the lymphedema world as an effective and exciting modality that compliments other treatments.

Grant is one of three therapists at Florida Hospital DeLand certified in this groundbreaking technique. She has earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences-Athletic Training and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Central Florida. She is also a nationally certified as both an athletic trainer and strength and conditioning specialist.
