Florida Hospital DeLand announces Debora Thomas as the new chief financial officer (CFO).

Thomas comes to Florida Hospital-DeLand from Florida Hospital-Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach, where she was the CFO as well. Her experience includes four years in public accounting, five years with a large public-utility company, and 15 years in hospital financial management. She has been with Adventist Health Systems since 1996. During her tenure, she served as controller and CFO at Florida Hospital-Fish Memorial before joining Florida Hospital-Memorial Medical Center.

“I am so fortunate to be able to work with a management team and medical staff leadership that are committed to continually improving the care available to the residents of Volusia and Flagler Counties,” said Thomas. “My part in achieving this goal is to be a vigilant steward of the resources that we have been given and to constantly focus on decreasing waste and improving processes, while ensuring that the care received by our patients remains our first concern.”

Thomas graduated with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting from the University of Florida. She is a certified public accountant and a certified healthcare financial professional.

Originally from the Gainesville area, she moved to Ormond Beach in 1995. Thomas and her husband have been married for 27 years, and have three children. She is currently a member of the Daytona State College Foundation Board, is active in her local church, and is a past board member of the FUTURES Foundation. She and her family enjoy boating, water-skiing, and scuba diving together.
