The Deltona Youth Soccer Club is suing to recover land one of its former directors sold to a company in which he had a financial interest.
The club filed a 31-point civil suit in the Volusia County Circuit Court Feb. 3.
The complaint names Intrinsic Investments Inc. and former club director Charles Vance as the defendants. According to the lawsuit, Vance was director of the soccer club, and his wife, Jayne, was a shareholder and secretary of Intrinsic.
The lawsuit also names Deltona Mayor Dennis Mulder, who was president of Intrinsic Investments at the time of the land sale in 2006.
The suit says Vance orchestrated the sale of the property, and that Vance and Mulder “at all relevant times hereto, shared a close personal relationship.”
The lawsuit claims Intrinsic bought the property at a price “well below fair market value at that time” and in a deal that was favorable only to Intrinsic, not the soccer club.
The 12.8 acres are on the southeast side of Deltona, near the intersection of Fort Smith and Humphrey boulevards.
The lawsuit is a foreclosure action. The club claims Intrinsic failed to make “the interest payment due on April 01, 2008 and all subsequent payments.” As well as trying to recover its land, the club is asking the court for compensation for its court costs and other legal expenses.
Neither Vance nor Mulder could be reached for comment.

So glad to see this come to light, but it makes think about how many other questionable things this mayor has done in the last few years.
