It’s going to be a warm day Saturday, Jan. 16, with highs in the upper 60s. The temperatures will be welcome, but forecasters are calling for a chance of rain.
Damp or not, after a week of frigid weather, it looks like Jan. 16 will be a good day to get outside and enjoy Bulldog Day.
To celebrate DeLand High School’s historic march to the state football playoffs this year, the City of DeLand is sponsoring a Bulldog Day parade and block party.
Judy Dunn, activities director for DeLand High, is wrangling entries for the parade. Dunn estimates there will be about 30 entrants by parade day. There is no cost to join the lineup.
Parade entries will assemble Saturday on North Woodland Boulevard, starting at the Cultural Arts Center at 600 N. Woodland Blvd.
Starting time for the parade is 2 p.m.; the parade will travel south on Woodland and circle Spec Martin Memorial Football Stadium on the north end of Earl Brown Park, before heading back Downtown.
Following the parade, a ceremony at 4 p.m. will honor the Bulldogs, and a block party will run until 8 p.m. These activities will be on West Indiana Avenue in front of the Volusia County Historic Courthouse.
For more information, or to enter the parade, contact Dunn at 386-822-6909, ext. 23379, or 386-479-9708, or e-mail JKDunn@volusia.k12.fl.us.
