Community Roots Farm at 263 E. Washington Ave. in Lake Helen will be the scene of a New Year's Day celebration.
On Friday, Jan. 1, a potluck lunch will begin at 2:30 p.m., followed by fence-post painting.
Bring a covered dish, plates and utensils for a picnic lunch. Then, the painting will begin.
The event is a fundraiser for the small nonprofit community farm, organizer Elisha Lee explained.
"This is a great way for your family or business to leave your mark at the farm," she said.
The artwork will be on view on the fence for years to come. The farm will provide paint; just bring a brush or two.
In June, 21 volunteers raised the fence around the 6-acre farm.
The cost for painting a fence post is $15 for individuals and $30 for businesses.
Lee and other members of the farm group are raising funds and applying for grants, including one from the University of Florida, so they can plant crops for a fall harvest. Grants require matching funds.
Those attending the Jan. 1 fundraiser are welcome to join in a bonfire and drum circle at dusk. Lee suggested bringing a chair or blanket for the evening.
No reservations are required.
