Discover DeLand is a city committee devoted to increasing the DeLand area's appeal as a tourism destination.
Committee members have been working for almost two years, exploring ideas to unify the resources of the DeLand area and sell them as a package that would appeal to visitors from near and far.
An important part of the process is branding the DeLand area, and that requires a good-looking logo.
Committee members decided to ask DeLand-area artists to submit logos for judging. A total of seven logos were received by six artists.
Artists participating included Robert Brooks of DeLand, Margaret Rose Scribner of DeLand, Jenna Familletti of DeLand, Nancy Twible of DeBary, Stephanie Sterrett of Orange City and Casey McBride of DeLand.
The Discover DeLand committee picked as its top finalists logos No. 1, 2, 3 and 4. Click here to send an e-mail to the committee with your vote from among those four.
We'd also like to know what you think of all seven logos that were submitted. Leave your comments below.

I like #2, followed by #4.
Best logo would be #4 with the "DeLand" using the font from #2.
The idea behind #4 is sound, however I fear the DISCOVER is too small for visitors to quickly ascertain what is in most of the pictures. Plus, if the logo is printed small, or in grayscale, the pictures lose even more meaning.
Logos need to be simple, easily identifiable from a distance, and carry meaning. These two hit two of those three, in my opinion.
Final question - Why is DeLand considered the Athens of Florida?
The rest look tooooo touristy.
Been Deland residents since 1977. Wouldn't live anywhere
else.
LOGO #4 - Very colorful and eye catching. Don't think
restaurant logo is indicative of our town. Food could
really be much better than it is at present.
Dottie Viola
Logo 2, Simple elegant & historic looking
Logo 3, very nice, but too busy
Logo 4, retro, nice
Logo 5, creative, yet hard to read~doesn't really say "DISCOVER"
Log 6, the word DE Land looks like cheesy-poofs
Logo 7, we're not Orange City, what's up with the Manatee?
I really like #2 with #4 as a close second
