That's just what the DeLand Bulldogs felt here Friday night as they blanked the Pine Ridge Panthers, 42-0, for a district triumph before a super crowd in Spec Martin Memorial Stadium.
This marked the third straight shutout for the 'Dogs since they outlasted the Daytona Beach Seabreeze SandCrabs here in a 49-48 barn-burner.
The 'Dogs improved to 6-0 with the battling Panthers slipping to 0-6.
DeLand will be hosting the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, for community night in a non-district test.
It was the one-two-three offensive punch again for the 'Dogs as senior Shontrelle Johnson, Pop Saunders, and the offensive line did their thing. Johnson and Saunders displayed their rushing talents of changing pace and gliding around opponents with the former scoring three times and the latter once as they combined for more than 300 yards.
Nick Ciciarelli did it both on the ground and in the air as he rushed for one six-pointer and passed to Dramon Grady for another. Hunter Haire connected with four extra points with Taylor Church adding two others.
Once again it was another solid defensive showing as the Panthers were unable to muster but a net 10 yards on the ground and 45 passing. The pressure was tough from start to finish.
(For more details check our Thursday publication, and don't forget the NSB game to be followed by the Battle of the Bone with the Deltona Wolves here Oct. 23 which will be the final home regular season game).
