Another look ahead at this week’s football action, as we wish our six West Volusia high-school teams the best of luck.
Something a little different this week for the DeLand Bulldogs, as they will be taking to the road for the first time this season, after three-straight home games.
More importantly is the fact DeLand will be facing the Spruce Creek Hawks Thursday, Sept. 24, at the New Smyrna Beach Airport Sports Complex.
After playing twice on the road and once at home this season, the Taylor Wildcats will be enjoying an open date Friday as they prepare for their 2009 Homecoming events Oct. 2 on Swanson Field, when St. Joseph’s of St. Augustine comes to call.
Our other four West Volusia teams will be getting together Friday, making only two games.
In Deltona, the Deltona Wolves will host the neighboring Pine Ridge Panthers, just five miles apart, in the Battle of Howland Boulevard, which I believe is called the duel for the Mayor’s Trophy.
It will be more of the same for Deltona-area football Friday night, when the Deltona Trinity Christian Eagles will be at home at Dewey O. Boster Sports Complex playing host to the Lighthouse Christian Eagles.
