Serious accident – A pickup truck took the brunt of damage in an accident with a box truck in Downtown DeLand late Wednesday afternoon. The accident, near the intersection of East Howry and South Alabama avenues, blocked traffic as emergency workers responded to the scene. At least two people were sent to the hospital.

A two-vehicle crash near the intersection of South Alabama and East Howry avenues injured at least two people this afternoon, Sept. 9.
A commercial box truck and a pickup collided just east of the DeLand Area Public Library, and the force of the crash sent the pickup into a tree upside down. The crash occurred about 4:45 p.m.
Emergency workers on the scene said one victim of the crash was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, the other to Florida Hospital-DeLand.
Both were apparently occupants of the silver pickup. The driver of the commercial truck was speaking to law-enforcement officers on the scene and did not appear to be injured.
No details were immediately available about the extent of the injuries, why the crash occurred, or whether any citations were issued.

When one had to be flown by air to the emergency room,and as of this date she is still in the Hospital, with a pelvis that's fractured in 3 places, a broken finger and a broken arm, a fractured ankle and fractured tailbone.
