Book-signing
Dr. Joseph Arthur, former assistant pastor of First United Methodist Church of DeLand, was in town last Sunday for a book-signing. His new book, The 12 Essentials for Disciple-Making (Everyone’s Ministry), has just been published and was available to church members and “disciple-makers” at a reception for him and his wife, Cathy. Dr. Arthur was a professor at Toccoa Falls College in Georgia, spent 10 years as a missionary/leader in the Philippines, and was senior minister of three Christian and Missionary Alliance churches for 18 years.
As assistant pastor, Arthur developed a 12-section program for the church where a “discipler and a disciplee” could read and study the material together, one section at a time, one week at a time, on a one-to-one basis, female with female and male with male. After completion of this study, the two visit another person to share their faith. This program is based on Jesus’ great commission to “go and make disciples of all nations.” Dr. Arthur believes a strong bond occurs between two people as they share in this program.
For more information, call the church office at (386) 734-5113.

The 3 p.m. Mosaic in the Afternoon service will have “A Fabulous Friendship Festival,” led by Lisa Stauffer. This informal service includes time for discussion and fellowship following the service. All are welcome.
