With the temperature climbing above 90 degrees, and a heat index of more than 100, local children celebrated the essence of a perfect summer day June 23 at Veterans Memorial Park, 426 S. Volusia Ave. in Orange City.
With no rain in sight, little ones at the park kept it cool under the cascades of water at the parks' splash pad.
The splash pad was opened at the 2008 Orange City Fourth of July celebration, and has already become a big hit with residents.
One mom commented the splash pad was the best thing the city has ever done.
The children, who were delighted by the fountains of water, seemed to agree.
