The DeLand Suns were scheduled to open their 2009 season on Wednesday evening at Sanford against the River Rats, and then begin play on Melching Field at Conrad Park tonight, Thursday, June 4, at 7 o’clock, against the Leesburg Lightning.
As we’ve noted before, a couple of standout managers with a ton of big-league experience will be facing each other in the dugouts here, with Davey Johnson guiding the Suns, and Frank Viola with the Lightning.
To help get our community involved with the Suns, we’ll have a rundown on their current roster, as well as the schedule.
The team
