Ripped out my lawn over a decade ago. Tired of $$$ for mowing/watering/fertilizing.
Now, flowering shrubs/trees/groundcovers & little care with great beauty all year & attractive to pollinators.
The trees shade my house; saving on AC costs.
Why would lawn maintenance companies promote this type of landscaping? It's landscaping them OUT-OF-WORK.
Follow-the-money.
