Clearly, this has nothing to do with protecting manatees. This is just yet another in a decades-long series of political ploys by sleazy East Volusia bigwigs to exert dominance over and control of West Volusia. We saw another example recently with county council favoritism to East Volusia by firing all West Volusia officials from a county tourism board. Back off you sleazy Daytona creeps! Thank God we have the DeLand Beacon to sound the alarm on these East Volusia hijinks -- the Daytona paper sure won't.
