Last August during the time of tropical storm Faye, my elderly mother called me from her cell phone when on her way thru Deland she had a flat tire on New York Ave and 17-92 and A.A.A. was going to be atleast an hour because of the heavy call load. When I arrived at the location where she was parked, 10 yards from the intersection a young man had just finished tightening the last lug nut on her spare tire that he had just finished changing for her. It had been raining for some time and he was soaked head to toe. I approached mom who was standing close to the building covering her head with a newspaper and she told me that as soon as she had hung up with me this gentleman came up to her and without hessitation offered to assist. As she got back into the car we both thanked him prefusely and asked him to please take a small donation as mom and I simultaniously extended 20 dollar bills but he wouldnt have any of it saying he was happy to help and that if we pass it along someday that will be his reward. To the two of us, that smiling wet man wearing a red bandana on his head was an Angel and Godsend. Thank you Justin Eiland, it's Ironic that I would have spoted you in here this way but God does work in mysterious ways. My mom and I will never forget your kind deed and will have you in our thoughts and prayers always.
Another thing that I remember about that day is that there were other people standing around. Standing around in the rain holding religious signs and preaching to the traffic going by, none of which offered at any time to help an elderly woman in need.
