I agree with Joyce. I too went to the summer shows at the Athens as a kid, getting in with those ol' RC bottle caps, to watch, say, "The Three Stooges." The Athens revamp is great, BUT ... let's hope it doesn't "revamp over" its wonderful heritage as a place that served folks like working class youth. The Sands family are kinda at a different end of the economic strata and pretty clueless on how the non-wine and cheese, non-country club set live their lives ... maybe offer something non-high brow once in awhile.
