Considering this is a lakefront home, no questions were asked regarding what is beneath the concrete floor slab.

As I recall, in 1981, termite pre-treat chemicals used then are presently banned. They were banned for a reason, just ask the residents of the Deland Country Club. Perhaps the pre-treat chemical used is on record in VC bldg dept.

So, have the city staff and commisioners taken into consideration the cost of soil testing and likely mitigation of the brownfield beneath the home adjacent to the waterbody? Obviosly this "Free Home" was inadequatly adressed by City officials and staff. I do commend Zanny and Web for their desenting votes on the matter, The others need a lesson in Critical Thinking, as a silt fence will not prevent the banned chemicals from migrating into the lake behind the home.

I hope the cost will not double in this well debated issue, But encourage the EPA, DNR, and the SJWMD are notified as to the demolition procedings iminent on Abigale.

Would hate to see Aldrin, Dieldren, 245d, or DDT enter the lake because of the mis-steps of the DCC at the expense of the taxpayers. Lake Neighbors beware, as your representative may not be.
