Laws, fears and common sense | posted Jan 14, 2013 - 1:24:59pm
First my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives to this tragedy.

Now, forks and knives don't act on their own, ignorant people can abuse them to do harm. There are laws against using a "weapon", of any kind to do harm!

Cars don't drive drunk themselves, ignorant people abuse the privilage of using the car. That's why there are strict laws against using a vehicle in a harmful way. In fact there are laws against using certian kinds of vehicles on the road because of the danger involved. (and because of the ignorant people who abuse the privilage to use them!)

So, why should their not be stricter laws against certian kinds of firearms because of the danger and harm they cause, and...because of the ignorant people who abuse the privilage of using them?

This has nothing to do with "taking away your right to prevent tyranny" or if "people are in fear of their government; or government is in fear of its people". If, by the slim chance, there is ever a need to excercize the right to prevent tyranny there will always be plenty of people and weapons to do so.

It's worse when a society has to be in fear of it's own people!!

For most, common sense says there needs to be a balance and an intellegent understanding of what firearms are really necessary for a free, civilized, responsible society to function.

Most people believe an AK47, UZI-SMG or rocket launcher do not belong in the possession of the gun owner/enthusiast, no matter how experienced and "responsible" one is. Would you use a flamethrower to light your fireplace or grill!? Like it or not these weapons were created for use in war to kill mass amounts of people. If a person fears the government to the extent that they truely believe they will need this protection some day, then it's time for them to consider moving to a different country, otherwise the fear is what is going to kill you.

The fearmongers would have you believe, like they have for many years, that the government wants to remove the right to bear arms. And as usual they are still wrong.

Are you sure this is what you would like to do?
